Mohan Kapahi Obituary

Born on November 30, 1945, to the late Tirath Ram and Gian (Mehta) Kapahi in Lahore, India, he had been a resident of the United States for the past 50 years. Mohan earned his Bachelor Degree in Engineering from The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. An avid golfer, Mohan was fun loving and outgoing. He enjoyed a nice Gray Goose Martini and was always the life of the party. He loved to crack jokes and enjoyed making his friends and family laugh. His energy was infectious and will be forever missed by all who knew him.
Those who will cherish his memories include his wife, Ranju Kapahi of Mansfield, Ohio, whom he married on March 2, 1975; his daughters: Pooja (Benjamen) Kapahi-Zoeller of Liberty Township, Ohio and Geethanjali (Gayan) Poovendran of Miami, Floridia; his grandchildren: Krishan Zoeller and Nayana Zoeller; his siblings: Subhash (Tuanjai) Kapahi of Chiang-Mi, Thailand, Kailash Kapahi of Winnipeg, Canada, Naresh (Neera) Kapahi of Redwood City, California, Neena Malhotra (sister-in-law), Sachin Malhotra (nephew), Anjali Singh (niece), Aarti Malhotra (niece).
A Puja ceremony with friends and family to honor Mohan's life will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. Calling hours from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM with friends and family at the funeral home.
In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Mohan and Ranju bought the house right next door to us in Naples Florida. We actually met them at the design center, where we all go to pick out our tile, fixtures, etc. -- fast forward to July 2024 and we were next door neighbors and became fast friends. We socialized on a number of occasions and went to a few community gatherings and couples dinners. On behalf of my wife Gina and I....we are simply heartbroken over Mohan´s death. Gina said time and time again "you are so happy you found a good friend...and he lives next door".....so we. are heartbroken over Mohan´s death, and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family. What a fun loving great guy! I´m heartbroken. My new friend is gone. May he rest in peace and God Bless his family...

To the Kapahi family
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
We will dearly miss Mohan.
Mohan was such a fun loving, life loving and deeply caring person. He was also a big brother to my husband. There will now be an irreplaceable hole in every future Mansfield gathering. And yes- he did make the best vodka martinis with his special olive juice-even if we openly disagreed on which was the best vodka. His favorite was Grey Goose and I preferred Belvedere.
