Obituary published on Legacy.com by Audubon Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Slidell on Aug. 8, 2024.
Mohea Page Smith was born on December 9, 1952. Jesus lovingly called her home on August 7, 2024, after 71 faithful years on this earth.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 52 years, Steve; two daughters, Laura Bice and Lisa Norris; our son-in-love, Glen Norris; eight grandchildren, Zachary, Katelynn (Jaelan), Jamie (Nick), Mason (Vanessa), Victoria (Matthew), Memphis, Miles, and Micah; six great-grandchildren, Paisley, Phoebe, Preston, Lucy, Callum, and Atlas; one brother, Doug Page; sister-in-love, Judy Page; one sister, JoAnn McCarthy; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and hundreds of brothers and sisters in Christ also called friends.
Mohea was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on May 2, 2024, and after one chemo treatment decided to go home with hospice care. Her prayer was for a few months of 'quality of life' with little or no pain and nausea. God heard from so many praying friends and family, and she was blessed to have three months with visits from those she loved.
Mohea had many gifts from the Lord that she humbly shared wherever there was a need. Most people experienced her organizational and administrative abilities. She also had a gift of teaching ladies The Bible and was a great listener and counselor. She taught piano and voice for over 35 years. She was a music assistant at FBC Slidell for 10 years and even though she preferred to be a 'behind the scenes' servant of the Lord, she sang solos, duets, trios, and quartets through the years and most recently played the piano for worship services at Thompson Road Baptist Church. She dearly loved her family at Thompson Road Baptist Church. Music was something she loved but nothing compared to her love for Jesus Christ. Her family was everything to her on this earth. She loved each one with the unconditional love only available with the love of God.
We will have a gathering on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Thompson Road Baptist Church located at 59008 Hwy 433,
Slidell, LA 70460 with visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Mohea's request was that we share the gospel of Jesus Christ and that's what we will do. Brother Randy Boyett, our pastor, will present the gospel and Brother Jim Baham, our worship leader for many years at FBC, will lead us in hymns that talk about the love of and the faithfulness of God. And we will thank God for Christ, our hope in glory as we continue our earthly journey to draw closer to Him until He returns or calls us home.
Our family wants to thank Jordan Keller, our awesome and wonderful hospice nurse and all the great people of Enhabit Hospice, and the doctors and nurses from Slidell Memorial for their great care and compassion from the beginning. And thanks to Audubon Funeral Home for their help as well.
Instead of flowers, please consider a donation to the general fund of Thompson Road Baptist Church to use for their many ministries locally and around the world.
Mohea has received her perfect healing and would want all to rejoice in it and look forward to the time God will call them home. Please join us as we Praise the Lord!
