Ms. Monica Antoinette Jones Wix, age 68 of
Portland, Tennessee passed away Monday, October 6th, 2025 at her residence in Portland. She was born on December 16th, 1956 in Madison, TN to the late Donald Jones and Peggy Bowen.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Brian Bruckert.
She is survived by her son, Christopher Horton; grandchildren, Richard (Makayla) Evert and Natalie Horton; great grandchild, Oakley Evert; sisters, Tammy Carnal, Jeanie (Mickey) Schroeder and Lisa Denley; step-brother, Tommy Bowen; step-sisters, Lynn Mace and Bobbie Fletcher.
Monica's spirit was as radiant as a sunrise over the ocean she so dearly loved. The beach was her happy place; where her heart found calm and her soul felt free. She had an eye for beauty, whether it was in the perfect shade of lipstick, a charming boutique find, or the small moments that made life sparkle.
She had a rare gift for making people feel seen, heard, and cherished. She listened without judgment, comforted without hesitation, and loved without condition. Her kindness flowed naturally. She was a quiet, steady force that lifted those around her.
A true queen of gift giving, Monica somehow always knew exactly what would make someone smile. She was the first to open her home and the last to let the party end; a gracious hostess who filled every room with laughter, warmth, and the delicious aroma of something she'd lovingly prepared.
Her creativity found its way into every corner of her life, from her perfectly curated gatherings to the handmade treasures she crocheted with care. Thoughtful, generous, and endlessly full of light, Monica was a rare soul whose presence made the world softer and brighter. In her spare time she enjoyed watching Blue Bloods and Chicago PD or reading a good book. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Her warmth, humor, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who knew her. Though her laughter now echoes in our memories, her love and devotion to Christ reminds us that this goodbye is only temporary, for her spirit lives on eternally and radiant in the presence of our Savior.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Fountain Head Baptist church in
Portland, Tennessee on Friday, October 10th at 4:00 PM with Bro. Mark Jones officiating.
