Moon McMahen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McNett Funeral Home - Andrews on Dec. 11, 2024.
Moon McMahen, a treasured soul whose generosity and faith illuminated the lives of many, passed away on December 7, 2024, in Midland, TX. Born on April 4, 1935, in Seoul, Korea, Moon's journey through life was marked by her selfless nature and a heart that knew no bounds. She brought love and warmth to her adopted community, touching countless hearts along the way.
Moon is survived by her devoted husband, Brooks Anthony McMahen of Odessa, TX, who stood by her side throughout their years together. Her spirit will be carried on by her beloved nephew, Chong Ung Moon, and his wife, Eunlee, of Fairfax, VA, as well as her adoring great-niece, Sophie Juhyng Moon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chong Ku and Bang Ur Moon, who instilled in her the virtues of kindness and compassion that she carried throughout her life.
Moon embraced her role as a homemaker with grace and dedication, creating a warm and welcoming home that was often the gathering place for family and friends. Her involvement with the Midland Korean Baptist Church reflected her deep and abiding faith.
Her love for cooking was more than a hobby; it was a means of bringing people together, a way to share her heritage, and a vessel for her generous spirit. Her dishes were not merely food but extensions of her love and care. Moon's vibrant personality shone through her culinary creations, and she relished in the delight they brought to those around her.
Moon was the epitome of the typical Korean mom, nurturing and protective, with a strength that was both gentle and unyielding. Her character was marked by helpfulness, and she never hesitated to extend a hand to anyone in need. To Moon, everyone was family, and she treated strangers with the same warmth and kindness that she reserved for her own.
Moon never met a stranger, and those who had the honor of crossing paths with her were invariably touched by her radiant presence. Moon's legacy is one of boundless love and unwavering kindness, a beacon of hope and comfort for all who were fortunate enough to be embraced by her spirit.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews, TX.
