Morris "Moe" Rudick was born in Toledo, Ohio May 29, 1923. He died at 98 on December 5, 2022 in Livermore, CA. After serving in the Air Force as an air traffic controller during World War II, Moe came to Silver City to attend New Mexico Western State Teacher's College where he earned a teaching degree in art. Here he met and married Silver City native, Maxine Ward, in 1947.
Moe knew no strangers and took great delight in meeting new people. He had a wonderful sense of humor with a joke for any occasion. He is fondly remembered by those who knew him in the 1950s as the manager of the Gila, Silco, and El Sol Theaters, as well as theaters in outlying communities. Moe later put his creativity and artistic skills successfully to work as owner of a manufacturing jewelry store where he designed and created fine custom jewelry and later as Vice-president of retail marketing for a large residential/commercial construction company.
Moe is survived by their three children; Wendy Rudick Shaul, Ward Rudick, Wayne and his wife Dana Rudick, two grandsons and their wives, 5 great-grandchildren, and Moe's brother, Jack Rudick. Maxine passed away in Tyrone in 2005.
A brief memorial and Honor Guard ceremony will take place at Ft. Bayard National Cemetery on Thursday, August 17th at 11a.m., after which, at his behest, both Moe's and Maxine's remains will be buried side by side, not far from the grave of their informally "adopted" son, Sergeant Timothy Johnson, a career Marine. Immediately following the inurnment, a Celebration of Life will be held for both Moe and Maxine at the Whiskey Creek Zocalo in Arenas Valley, NM.
In lieu of sending flowers, please come with a fond memory or story to share, plant a tree in memory of Max and Moe (see sympathyfloralstore.com), or if you wish, make a donation to a local charity.
