Morris Leonard Wood, age 90, of Gainesville, GA passed away November 18, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace & Wilma Bagby Wood, brother-in-law, Gilbert Chung & sister-in-law, Dean Wilson. He was a graduate of Chestatee High School and married to Wanda Sue Wood for 69 years. He retired from the U.S.D.A after 30 years. He drove a school bus for several years and retired after 16 years with the Forsyth County Parks & Recreation. He was the choir leader at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for 25 years. He was an avid UGA Fan & Braves Fan. He competed competitively in bowling, basketball, water skiing, baseball, softball, tennis, ping pong & pickleball.
He is survived by his wife, Lawanda Sue Wood, children, Mickey Wood (Pam), Jack Wood (Chrissie), Ben Wood (Stephanie), Chris Lively (Scott), brother, Theodore Wood (Ina Ann), sister, Frances Chung, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, November 21, 2025, at Freedom Tabernacle with Pastor Robbie Mathis & Rev. Bud Sutton officiating. The body will be placed instate at the church from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
