Mr. H. Roger Stover, age 80, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. He was born in Jefferson, GA in 1944.
Roger is survived by his wife of 57 years Shari Wheeler Stover of Auburn; son, Drew (Brooke) Stover of Auburn and Arlington, VA; sister-in-law Janis (Davis) Gravely of Auburn and Gail Stover Cool (Jim) of Jefferson; along with nephews and nieces: Wayne, Jeff, Cindy, Julie, Adria, and Caleb; and their 14 children.
He was predeceased 3 months ago by daughter, Dara Stover of Auburn. Also predeceased by father Horace Stover and mother Mattie Lee Arnold (Lester); brother Don Stover; sister Linda Harris; all of Jefferson.
Roger enjoyed 36 years with Georgia Power Company, retiring as distribution line foreman. He also served the United States faithfully in the National Guard. Beyond his career, Roger was a cowboy with his love of horses beginning in first grade. He was able to own his first horse in 1969 and had one or more for the next 53 years. He rode countless miles and enjoyed many adventures with horses and cows.
Roger was known for his faith in Jesus Christ. Since 1968 he served in 4 churches as deacon, Bible Study leader for adults and children, and the various whatever needed to be done jobs over the years. He was a faithful member of Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula for the last 13 years.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 9, 2025, in the Chapel of Maddox-Carter Memorial Home with Rev. Richard Sims officiating. The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 11:00 AM until the service hour at Maddox-Carter Memorial Home. A private burial will be held at Barrow Memorial Gardens.
