Adams announces the passing of Mrs. Abverna L. Moore (Singleton), 82, who transitioned on Tuesday, June18, 2024 at her residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Butler Memorial Presbyterian Church- 603 W. Victory Dr.
Viewing will be held from 2 PM to 4 PM Friday, June 28, 2024 at the funeral home.
OBITUARY:
ABVERNA LEOLA MOORE PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY AT HER RESIDENCE ON JUNE 18, 2024.
MRS. ABVERNA LEOLA MOORE WAS BORN ON MARCH 16, 1942 TO THE LATE ABRAHAM AND DOROTHY SINGLETON. SHE WAS EDUCATED IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS OF CHATHAM COUNTY AND WAS A 1960 GRADUATE OF ALFRED E. BEACH HIGH SCHOOL. SHE MARRIED LEVI M. MOORE JR ON JUNE12, 1960. FROM THIS UNION, FIVE SONS WERE BORN.
ABVERNA BEGAN HER EMPLOYMENT WITH SEARS ROEBUCK IN 1967. IN 1971, SHE BEGAN HER EMPLOYMENT WITH THE CHATHAM COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM BEFORE RETIRING IN 1997. SHE RETURNED TO HER JOB WITH THE CHATHAM COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM IN 2000 AND RETIRED IN 2003.
ABVERNA WAS A MEMBER OF BUTLER MEMORIAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH WHERE SHE SERVED AS A MEMBER OF THE A.S. LEAKE CIRCLE AND SANG IN THE GOSPEL CHOIR. ABVERNA WAS AS COMMITED TO HER HUSBAND AND FAMILY AS SHE WAS TO HER FAITH.
ABVERNA ALSO LOVED SPORTS AND WOULD OFTEN PLAY SOFTBALL AND KICKBALL WITH HER SONS IN THE BACKYARD AS A YOUNG MOTHER.
SHE LEAVES TO MOURN HER PASSING: SONS LEVI M. MOORE III EDGAR R. MOORE, ASHFORD B. MOORE, LENARD Q. MOORE (DECEASED), JONATHAN A. MOORE, SISTER IN-LAWS EUDORA ALLEN (HERMAN), HATTIE WORRILL, HENRIETTA MOORE, AND BROTHER IN-LAW CHARLES MOORE (PAM), ONE GRANDDAUGHTER, THREE GRANDSONS, AND A HOST OF COUSINS, EXTENDED RELATIVES AND FRIENDS.
