Mrs. Gloria Stillabower Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Homes and Crematory - Washington St. on Jul. 27, 2025.
Mrs. Gloria J. Stillabower, 75, passed from this life Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Green Tree at Westwood in Columbus, Indiana. She entered this world on May 12, 1950, in Fort Still, Oklahoma to Zebidee and Edna Pridgen Smith.

Gloria was a masterful dog trainer and breeder, she not only nurtured the spirits of countless pets but also shared the splendors of the canine world through her talents in dog shows. Her love for animals was paralleled only by her unwavering support for the Indiana Pacers, a team she followed with fervor throughout her life.

A literary enthusiast to her core, Gloria found solace and adventure within the pages of cowboy novels, living vicariously through the stories of wild western frontiers. Her passion for reading was matched by her love for the cinematic world of westerns.

In the quiet serenity of her own backyard, Gloria's hands worked harmoniously with the earth. Her garden stood as a testament to her dedication and skill, where she cultivated not just plants, but a space of tranquility and sustenance. The seasonal ritual of canning her harvest and cooking meals from her garden's bounty brought her immense satisfaction and allowed her to share her love through the flavors of homegrown ingredients.

Gloria's tapestry of life was woven with deep familial bonds, and she leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories for her son, Chris Stillabower and his wife, Katherine Moore of Columbus; her adored grandchildren, Ryder and Mavix Stillabower, Teagan Thompson, and Cody King; her siblings, Jackie (Roy) Wallace, Paulette Nesbitt, and Johnny Smith. She joined in heaven her parents, beloved late husband, Roger who passed February 12, 2025 and her sisters, Pat Beard and Barbara Smith.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington St. with Pastor Adam Carrigan officiating. Friends and family may gather for a time of visitation Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service.

Gloria will be laid to rest next to her husband at Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Columbus.
