Mrs. Martha Giles Whitehead, age 82, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025. Born on May 16, 1943, she was a cherished member of the Winder community.
A graduate of Winder-Barrow High School, Mrs. Whitehead was an active member of her class. She was also a dedicated member of Carter Hill Christian Church, where her faith and compassion touched many lives. As a member of the Hairdresser Association of Georgia and the Eastern Star, she was known for her nurturing spirit and commitment to her community.
Martha had a servant’s heart, always helping those in need. Whether it was delivering home-cooked meals to the sick, volunteering at the church, or giving her time at the food pantry, She led a life devoted to serving others. Mrs. Whitehead was a long-time hairdresser in Winder, where her creativity and compassion for her clients made her a beloved figure. She had a unique ability to make each person feel special and cared for, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Roger Lane Whitehead; her parents, Doc Giles and Lucille Wages Giles; and her sister, Mary Helen Beacham.
Martha is survived by her brother, Frank Giles of Winder, nieces; Connie Ross, Malissa Palmer, and Marianne Still; great-niece and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephew.
Visitation will be held at Maddox-Carter Memorial Home on Wednesday, July 2nd from 5 pm until 7 pm. The Funeral Service will be on Thursday, July 3rd at Carter Hill Christian Church at 11 am, with Pastor Heath Kennedy and Reverand Ben Parker officiating. She will Lie-in State at Carter Hill Christian Church from 10 am until 11 am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Carter Hill Christian Church, 361 Punkin Junction Rd, Bethlehem, Georgia 30620.
Maddox-Carter Memorial Home, Winder, is entrusted with the arrangements.
