Mrs. Mary Jane Teal Craven, age 94, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, died on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at her home in Thomaston, Georgia, surrounded by those she cherished. Born on June 13, 1930, in Thomaston, Mary dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker, raising her children with love, care, and unwavering support.
Mary was a proud member of the Faithful Christian Baptist Church, where she found community and fellowship throughout her life. Her faith was an integral part of her being, guiding her through life's challenges and joys.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Faye Lanier; her 10 grandchildren, her 20 great-grandchildren, and her 10 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy for her. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by her two nieces.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Audrey Owens Teal, her former husband, Buford Craven, Sr.; her daughter, Nancy Craven; her sons, Buford Craven, Jr. and Roger Craven; and her son-in-law, Robert Lanier. Each of these individuals held a special place in her heart, and their memories are lovingly carried on by those left behind.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation scheduled for Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Fletcher Day Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held the following day, Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Faithful Christian Baptist Church, 1809 Pickard Road, Thomaston, GA 30286. Interment will follow in the Faithful Christian Baptist Church Cemetery.
The legacy of Mary Jane Teal Craven will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to inspire her family for generations to come.
