North Augusta, SC – Funeral Services for Muriel Lillian Chavous, 89, who entered into rest October 25, 2024, will be conducted Tuesday at 12 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel, Rev. Mark Owens and Rev. Roy Kiser officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Chavous was born August 13, 1935, in Augusta, GA to the late Clarence and Muriel Washington. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta where she sang in the choir, served on the church kitchen staff and was a member of the Shefield Club. Mrs. Chavous retired from the Augusta Post Office after 31 years of service. She was also a member of the North Augusta Pilot Club and served as the Co Hospitality Coordinator on the Nike Peach Jam for many years. Mrs. Chavous loved to travel and went on numerous cruises and bus tours all over the world. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack L. Chavous, Sr. and her sister, Patricia Walters.
Survivors include her two sons, Jack Chavous, Jr. (Gwyn) and Mike Chavous (Terri); six grandchildren, Christopher Chavous (Melanie), Kimberly Cypress (Charles), Craig Chavous, Jennifer Prescott (Phillip), Daniel Chavous (Chelsea) and Jordan Williams (Blake); nine great-grandchildren, CJ Chavous, Kayla Chavous, Tyler Warrick (Adrienne), Bella Oliver, Tristin Flynn, Charlotte Chavous, Bentley Chavous, Palmer Chavous and Addison Prescott; four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Chavous, Craig Chavous, Daniel Chavous, Phillip Prescott, Blake Williams and Tyler Warrick.
Memorials may be made to TrueNorth Church, 1297 West Martintown Road, North Augusta, SC 29841.
