Murphy Michael "Mike" Buell

Mike passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, April 3, 2025. Mike retired from Exxon after dedicating 38 years to the company. Following his retirement, he worked as a consultant for an additional 10 years, earning the nickname "Sharpshooter" due to his expertise in the field.
Mike aka "Poppie" lived a fulfilling life with his beloved wife of 50 years, Jeanie, and their children. He cherished family time, whether it was camping, taking annual trips to the beach to watch the Blue Angels, creating magical moments at Disney World with his grandchildren, tending to his garden, or simply "piddling" around in his barn. His home was always a welcoming place where his children and grandchildren loved to gather. Mike's happiest moments were when he was surrounded by family. He was the proud father of five wonderful children and the adoring grandfather of 13 grandchildren. His home offered comfort and refuge to so many over the years, and it continues to be a place of solace. One of his favorite traditions was Christmas Eve, when his family would come together to celebrate the birth of Jesus. In 2019, Mike suffered an accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life with Jeanie by his side as his devoted caregiver. Mike faced this challenge with incredible strength and grace. Despite the difficulties, he never allowed his limitations to define him. Instead, he used his situation as a platform to uplift others, always sharing his faith with a warm smile and never complaining. He was known for offering a prayer to everyone he met-just ask his Amazon delivery driver. Over the past six years, Mike's faith grew in ways that inspired everyone around him. Memorial Visitation will be on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Fellowship Church Zachary, from 2pm until service at 4pm. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Jean Buell "Jeanie", daughters, Lindsey Buell Alexander, Emily Fruge and Paige Scelfo and husband, Blaine. Sons, Eric Buell and wife, Carmen and Justin Buell and wife, Liz. Sister, Cathy Allen and brother, Robert Buell and wife, Terri. Grandchildren, Amber, Allie, Anna, Brady, Wyatt, Griffin, Dylan, Caidence, Colten, Mollie, Nolan, Madi and Leigh. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmo Murphy Buell and Rosalie Buell and a son-in-law, Todd Alexander.The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Amedysis Home Health & Hospice, Michelle Degraff, his" sister wives" Lisa, Suzette, and Brenda, his CNA Claudette, and many others who provided unwavering support.
