Murray Harvey Glick
August 20, 1931 – August 2, 2023
Murray 'Harvey' Glick, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away August 2, 2023,
at the age of 91. Harvey was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 20, 1931. A professional
drummer and singer, Harvey delighted audiences through his music and joyous personality.
Harvey married the love of his life, Arlene Glick (nee Feinberg), in their hometown of Boston, MA on October 2, 1952. As teenagers they met at Nantasket Beach, MA and remained in a loving inseparable marriage, recently celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. Harvey is survived by Arlene, son Michael and his wife Mary, daughter Laura and her husband Walter. Additionally, Harvey is survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Michael and Mary's children Melissa, David and spouse Phachphicha ('Bee') and their children Lanna and Louis, Justin, Steven, and Jennifer and her daughter Arlo; Laura and Walter's children Rachel and Robyn and her daughter Adeline. Survived by many relatives and lifetime friends, Harvey was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Rose Glick, and sister Judith Wolfe (nee Glick).
Growing up in a musical family, Harvey became interested in the drums at the age of 12. By the age of 16, he won the Massachusetts state drumming championship. His professional career began as a teenager, performing with big bands throughout the Northeast. Harvey was an Army Veteran and performed with the Army Band during the Korean War. Harvey and Arlene relocated to their honeymoon city of Miami Beach, Florida in 1957, where he entertained at well-known Miami Beach hotels, including the Fontainebleau, performing with famous professionals including Milton Berle, Henny Youngman, Foster Brooks, and Charlie Callas. Harvey became the resident drummer and singer at the historical Colonial Inn Hotel. Harvey also performed at innumerable weddings, bar mitzvahs, social events, and conventions, and enjoyed providing lessons to upcoming youth drummers.
Accompanying Harvey's passionate vocation in the music industry was his successful career as a salesman. The innate love Harvey had for people made him a natural fit for his years spent as a commodities broker which he pursued during the day while performing at night.
Harvey and Arlene enjoyed their many travels, including annual drives with their children to visit family and relatives in Boston. In addition to touring Europe, Canada, and the Caribbean Islands, Harvey and Arlene especially cherished their travels to all 50 states.
Harvey had a wonderful sense of humor, and everyone enjoyed listening to his many jokes, one-liners, antics, and stories. He had a beautiful love for people and conversation, and while Harvey was entertaining, he was also a great listener. His seven grandchildren will always have fond memories of trips to Disney World and riding on grandpa's back during leisurely swims in pools and the Atlantic Ocean. Most importantly, Harvey was all about love, commitment, and devotion to his family. It was through his loving relationships with his wife, children, and grandchildren that Harvey found his greatest happiness. Harvey will be dearly missed, but forever with us.
A chapel service was held for Harvey, with crypt burial at Beth David Memorial Gardens, Hollywood Florida.
