Celebrating the Life of Mynnette Jean Sheller Wilson

Mynnette Jean Sheller Wilson passed away on December 27, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and adventure. Born October 5, 1933, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was the first of four children of Mynnette Eloise Lomas and Albert Foster Sheller. Her childhood in Wauwatosa was filled with joy, friendships, and a spirit of curiosity that never faded.

Mynnette was known for her energy and mischievous streak—whether it was summer days at Girl Scout Camp Alice Chester or the unforgettable time she “borrowed” a neighbor’s car to take her sister to the movies. She never met a limit she didn’t want to test, and that zest for life carried her through every chapter.

After graduating from Wells College in Aurora, New York, Mynnette married James Wilson, the love of her life, whom she met during her college years. Together, they built a beautiful life, moving across states and even overseas as Jim pursued his career. Through every move—from Ohio to Delaware, Luxembourg to Kentucky—Mynnette created a warm home for Jim and her three daughters. In retirement, she and Jim enjoyed golf, friendships, and sunshine, splitting their time between Bradenton, Florida, and Hendersonville, North Carolina. She was deeply committed to education and proudly served in P.E.O., supporting opportunities for women.

Above all, Mynnette was devoted to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and twin brothers who died at birth. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim, who remained by her side with unwavering devotion; her sister, Mary Ann Carter (Ian) of Vancouver, British Columbia; and her three daughters: Lynne Taylor of Raleigh, NC; Anne Holscher (Russell) of Towson, MD; and Julie Packham (Nigel) of Houston, TX. Her joy multiplied with six granddaughters—Rachel Crowley, Megan Myers, Amanda Aburubia, Melissa Stavinoha, Courtenay Holscher, and Shelby Holscher—and thirteen great- grandchildren: Andrew, Luke, Holscher, Grady, Conan, Linden, Zelda, Breton, Walter, Waverley, Zain, Jarek, and Simon.

Mynnette’s life was rich with love, laughter, and resilience. Jim was by her side through all of it. They shared 70 years of marriage—a partnership marked by devotion, humor, dementia, and unwavering companionship. Even in her final years, Jim remained her constant, tenderly caring for her and cherishing the bond they had built. When asked what first drew him to her, Jim simply said, “She was a Babe!” And in his eyes, she always was.

She will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her warmth, and the way she made every place feel like home. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Brighton Gardens of Raleigh for their compassionate support.
