Myra Barton Obituary
Myra Sharon Barton was born on November 4, 1960 to Jeanne and Robert Barton, at Hinsdale hospital. She was their fourth child, following siblings Judy (Bob Brady) and Bev Straub (George Cartwright). An older brother, Robert, tragically passed before she was born. Yet, she and Jeanne celebrated Bobby's life throughout her own. She is survived by six nieces and nephews: Bob Brady (Theresa), Lisa Brady (Tony Budick), Chris Straub (Rachael), Greg Straub (Lisa), Charles Cartwright (Sylvia), and Jenni Straub,, and six great-nieces and -nephews: Bob Brady, Carter Straub, Leighton Straub, Alyssa Straub, Owen Straub, and Charlize Cartwright, all of whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by many cousins and a group of friends who were very special to her.
Myra attended Westmont high school, graduating in 1978. She was a life-long resident of Westmont and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She ran her own travel agency, Non-Stop Travel, for several years in the 1990s and enjoyed traveling to many countries. She was a gentle soul, with an easy laid-back laugh and great sense of humor. She loved tending to her garden and many cats.
Myra was also a very private person who suffered significant health issues throughout her life with stoicism and quiet dignity. She survived a liver transplant for more than 20 years. Suffice it to say she and her mom looked out for each other for many years. Mom recently passed, so it's not surprising Myra followed to be near mom.
A viewing will occur Friday March 21, 2025, at 10 am, followed by a short ceremony at 11:30 am. Interment will be at Clarendon Hills cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating money to the liver transplant support group at OrganTransplantSupport.org. And, you might consider donating organs, which helps prolong lives, as it did for Myra.
