Myra Cospelich Brune, a beloved resident of Ocean Springs for over six decades, passed away at the age of 85.
She was born in Gulfport, MS July 27, 1938, and was a graduate of St. John High School. She was known as "Nan" to many and was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and parishioner of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She, with her husband, Skinny, raised eight children, and they were her world. She was so proud of them, and always boasted about her thirteen smart, wonderful grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She loved taking daily car rides around downtown and front beach, always paying close attention to anything happening around the area.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn E. “Skinny” Brune; her parents, Felix Francis “Peck” and Marie Favre Cospelich; her brothers, Cecil, Archie, Richard and Lou Cospelich; her sisters, Ildred Price, Eva Hagensee, Faye Clark, and her son, James Phillip Brune.
She is survived by her sister, Glynn Steele (Pete); her children, Sharon (Roland) Weeks, Rhonda (Truman) Schultz, Catherin (Wallace) Boudreaux, and Jennifer (Robbie) Schmidt; her sons, Tod (Mattie) Brune, Glenn (Karla) Brune, Jr., and Reese (Valerie) Brune; her grandchildren, Amber (Darrell) Favre, Truman Schultz, III, Shelby Brune, Ashley and Nick Brune, Jonathon Goff, Miia Newman, Molly Schmidt, Bridgette (Marshall) Hamlett, Reese Brune, Cooper and Brady Brune, and Wallace Boudreaux, III; and by her great-grandchildren, Leah and Ethan Schultz; Gannon Favre; Panya and Nate Brune; Grant Hamlett; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Ocean Springs. Friends may visit one hour prior. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Ocean Springs, MS.
