Myra Hammond Obituary
SALEM- Mrs. Myra (Russ) Hammond 96, beloved wife of the late James R. Hammond, died Tuesday June 15, 2010 at the Hunt Nursing and Retirement Home in Danvers.
Born in Doles, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Mattie (Slappey) Russ. She was raised and educated in Doles, Georgia. She moved to Salem in July of 1971 and it had been her home ever since.
Mrs. Hammond had been employed in the Health Care Industry for several years prior to her retirement.
Myra was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed reading and playing the piano.
Myra is survived by her daughters, Julia Faye Preczewski of Salem and Cheryl L. Formancek and her husband Stephen of Florida, her son, Walter S. Hammond and his wife Jan of Mableton, Georgia, her four grandchildren, Robert Preczewski, Stephanie Formancek, Michele Hammond and Michael Arenburg and two great grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held in The O’Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem, Monday at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. For more information, inquire at 978-744-2350. Online Guestbook at www.legacy.com.

I happened to be glancing through the Salem News online tonight from my home in Hillsborough, NC and noticed Myra's passing. My mother, who was a nurse's aid at Newhall Nursing Home in Salem was a loving friend of Myra's for years. She was such an extraordinarily caring, loving woman and a faithful friend to my mother who passed away several years ago in Salem. I have a feeling it was my mother who guided me to this notice this evening. You are so very fortunate to have had such a truly wonderful lady in your family.
