Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend Myris Veloy Orr
returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father May 4, 2025. Myris was born March 11,
1933 in Grantsville, UT as an only child to Gustave (Lloyd) Orr and Vera Jane Arbon.
He married his high school sweetheart Elaine Watson on August 17, 1953 in the Salt Lake
Temple and they were married for 72 years. They are the parents of three children, Denise,
Richard and JoAnn. He was a wonderful father and worked extremely hard to support his
family.
Myris was a lifelong resident of Grantsville UT. He graduated from the Grantsville High School
in 1952 were he played basketball and was the co-captain of the football team. He was the last
surviving member of an infamous group of friends that named themselves the "Terrible 7"
while in Grantsville High school.
Myris proudly served in the US Army from March 1953 through March 1955, he worked for
Morton Salt Company and retired from the Tooele Army Depot in March of 1993 after 25 years
of service. He loved being in the great outdoors, spending time with his many dogs and
traveling with his family. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints and served in various positions.
His is survived by his loving wife Elaine, his son Richard Veloy Orr (Jenny), daughter JoAnn Orr,
granddaughter Nicole Shepherd, great-grandchildren Tristen & Alaina, son-in-law Noel
Shepherd and other extended family members. He was proceeded in death by his daughter
Carol Denise Shepherd, father Lloyd Orr and mother Vera Arbon.
A special note of appreciation to the team from Intermountain Homecare and Hospice, Erik,
Mario and Rob, the third ward Bishopric & the sisters of the Relief Society. We are grateful for
the service and compassion provided by the Dalton Hoopes Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 1 PM in the Grantsville City Cemetery with
Military Honors. A Visitation will be held in the Grantsville 3rd Ward, 428 S Hale St. from
11:30 – 12:30 prior to the graveside.
