Myrl Ballard

Myrl B Ballard (Bell), late of South Jordan, Utah, passed away on September 24, 2023 at Carrington Court.
Myrl was born in Provo, Utah on May 2, 1924 and experienced the many changes that came with a transient childhood. Myrl spent much of her childhood traveling with her family as her father worked as a traveling salesman for Singer Sewing Machines during the depression. She graduated from Garfield High School in Los Angeles, California in 1942. She went on to marry William Boyd Ballard and raise a family of seven children. Throughout her life, Myrl was a hard worker both at home with her children as well as holding various jobs such as the Department of Water and Power, BF Goodrich, Helen Grace Candy and at the Lindbergh Jr High cafeteria. Then later at McDonnel Douglas where she started as a janitor and eventually became a supervisor. She worked there until her retirement.
She enjoyed taking her kids on adventures like the tidepools at Cabrillo beach, San Diego to see cousins, and fun rides around Los Angeles. She was always up for a game of Canasta, which she was very good at. Grandkids loved being with her playing games and loved that she always had sugary cereals that they didn't get at home. She was a loving, giving, and generous person who welcomed everyone into her home. Myrl was very proud of and supportive of all her family and loved them all very much.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed serving in the Los Angeles Temple for several years and as a counselor in the Relief Society in Long Beach. Her love for her Heavenly Father and the beauty around her was evident and in later years would always request to be driven around to see the sights.
Myrl is survived by her daughter Peggy Skinner of Placerville, CA; daughter Wendy Hall of Garland Texas; son Leonard Ballard of Columbus, Georgia; son Glen Ballard (Betsey) of Mather, CA; daughter Kerry Belcher (Brad) of St. George, Utah; daughter Gaylene Miller (Bob) of West Jordan, Utah; 33 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. Myrl was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Jensen Bell; father, Ivan Earnest Bell; brothers, Afton Bell and Veldon Bell; sisters, Glenda Hawkins, Rula Bell, and Elna Self; and daughter, Judie Spooner.
Family and friends are invited to join in honoring the life of Myrl on Monday, November 6th at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home in South Jordan, Utah. The service will begin at 11am.
