Myrl E. Suddarth, 85, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, in Marion. Born on April 21, 1940, in Wabash, he lived a full and meaningful life marked by dedication to his family, craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for the places and passions that brought him joy.
Myrl was a graduate of Lowell High School in Lowell, Michigan. He began his professional journey as a mold maker with Foster Forbes before transitioning into millwright work. His strong work ethic and skilled hands led him to a fulfilling career from which he eventually retired at Chrysler.
On June 4, 1961, Myrl married Mary Catherine Bussert, with whom he shared six decades of love and partnership until her passing on October 29, 2021. Together they built not only a family but also a life rich with shared adventures and mutual support. One of their greatest joys was traveling together; they especially cherished the hills of Tennessee where they built their retirement home.
Myrl had an exceptional talent for building and creating. His carpentry skills were evident in the many projects he undertook over the years. He was also a gifted stained glass artisan who crafted beautiful windows, sun catchers, and jewelry boxes-each piece reflecting his patience and artistic eye.
A devoted sports fan, Myrl followed University of Michigan athletics with enthusiasm and cheered faithfully for the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers too. Whether watching games or discussing plays with loved ones, his passion for sports was infectious.
Above all else, Myrl was a caring man who took great pride in being a good husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey L. (Melissa) Suddarth; sisters, Julie Good and Beverly Suddarth; grandchildren, Kylie (Michael) Lockett, Brandon Suddarth, Carson Suddarth, Kesslar Suddarth, and Cash Suddarth; as well as two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Catherine; his parents, Harvey P. and Rhea (Hileman) Suddarth; and his son Michael E. Suddarth.
Entombment will be held at 11am on Monday, November 10, 2025 in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery. Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street,
