Marilyn S. Scheffer

Marilyn S. Scheffer, 73, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026 in Ft. Wayne. Born on August 6, 1952, in Marion, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Milford and Sarah (Timmons) Kling.

A proud graduate of Marion High School in the class of 1972, Marilyn went on to have many employment opportunities and eventually made a career with American Woodmark, where she worked diligently until her retirement in 2020.

Marilyn was a faithful Christian who found joy and solace in attending Christland Methodist Church. Her faith was important to her and brought her great comfort and strength throughout the years.

She is suvived by her sons, Gary Murphy and Ronnie Murphy, and cherished her role as a grandmother to 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Marilyn also shared close bonds with her brothers Milton (Karen Sue) Kling and Charles (Darcy) Kling. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Scheffer; her parents, Milford and Sarah Kling; and her brothers Robert Kling, Donald Kling, and Harold "Keith" Kling.

Known for being a good and loving mother, sister, and friend, Marilyn touched the lives of many with her kindness and warmth. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A private family visitation will be held. Extended family and friends may gather at her graveside service on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 11am in Marion National Cemetery, 1700 East 38th Street, Marion, Indiana. Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion, Indiana was entrusted with the arrangements.
