Myrna Faye Carter Jones transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the age of 66. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a lifelong resident of Kenner, LA. Myrna was a 1976 graduate of Grace King High School and continued her studies at Southern University A&M College, Baton Rouge, earning a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in Child Development. She was employed as an educator with the JeffCap Headstart Program for 37 years, helping young children grow, learn and discover their potential. Her gentle spirit and joyful energy made her classroom a place of warmth, laughter, and love. After retiring in July of 2022, Myrna continued serving her community through various outreach committees. Myrna will always be remembered for her kindness, her radiant smile, and her willingness to help others. Whether through her work, her church, her community, or her family, she left a lasting imprint of compassion and joy. Beloved wife of 39 years to the late Fred Jones, Jr. Loving daughter of the late Roger C. Carter, Sr. and Dorothy Lewis Carter. Granddaughter of the late Freddie and Ollie Dyer Lewis. Devoted sister of Kathy (Louis, Jr.) Favorite, Roger (Francis) Carter, Jr., Kimberly Carter, and the late Faybian Carter. Cherished niece of Elsie Lewis (her godmother), and Marvin (Rose) Lewis of Modesto, CA. Doting aunt of Joi Eugene, Jovan (Bruce, Jr.) Williams, Jada Eugene, Tedrick Carter, Lawryn (Jevine) Haley, LaShai (Anthony) Cadogan, Jonathan Carter, Omeker Johnson, Devanta Riley, and Ray “Pookie” Jones. Daughter-in-law of the late Fred Jones, Sr. and Elna Irvin Jones. Sister-in law of Danny Jones. Myrna is also survived her godchildren Dominique Reese, Tai Jones, and a host of great nieces, great nephews, close family, friends, and former students who will carry her memory in their hearts forever. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of New Birth Cathedral of Glory Ministries, Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Pilgrim Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches; members of Supporters of Washington Elementary and Old Kenner Civic Association; employees of Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice; former staff and students of JeffCap Headstart and Washington Elementary School are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at New Birth Cathedral of Glory Ministries, 301 Clay Street, Kenner, LA on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Richmond Edwards, Sr., officiating. Viewing will be held from 8:30a.m.-10:00a.m. ONLY at the church.
