Those who really knew Myron, knew that he looked rough and tough on the outside, but he really had a tender, sensitive heart. He liked to laugh, shoot the breeze and have a good time. He knew people everywhere! He wasn't Irene's son or Ulana's brother ...Irene was Myron's mom and Ulana was Myron's sister.
He was proud to be Ukrainian - he was an altar boy at Epiphany Ukrainian Catholic Church; member of CYM Rochester, CYM Ukrainian Dance Group Dunaj back in the day. He loved Ukrainian dancing so much he also joined the dance group w/PLAST Rochester dancers... paving the way for UDAC years later. He spent many happy summers at Cholodnyj Yar CYM Camp in Fillmore, NY and Labor Day weekends at Ellenville CYM Camp in the Catskills.
He was a talented artist - his tattoos featured his artistic creations. He had a lifelong love of music - he could learn to play any song by ear on his guitar. He amassed a collection of guitars, especially lefties so he could play them. He loved jamming with anyone and listened to kinds of music. He was a founding member of Chysto Brüd (Pure Dirt). In recent years he was also helping out with sound for some bands and at UDAC performances.
He loved food shows and cooking food. He had fond memories of cooking with Roman Bucierka (+) for Epiphany Church events. He worked at Perkins as a young man and at the Klassy Kat off and on over the years. He liked to be the chef, but he could also be the sous chef to have a happy kitchen for holiday meals. Cooking for family friends and coworkers was one of his love languages.
He eventually found a channel for his creative talents in the machining industry. He attended Edison Tech High School and was always interested in the technical drawing + drawing classes. He eventually decided to attend MCC and took courses for an Associate's Degree in Machining. He worked at several machine shops in Rochester, most recently at Precise Tool + Manufacturing. He thought that was the best shop he'd worked at. He'd envisioned retiring from there after a decent career with them.
Vichnaya Pam'yat!
