Myrtie Baker

Myrtie LaVina Baker, age 92, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026. She was born on May 20, 1933 in Angola, Indiana to her parents, the late Oscar and Verna Button.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Harvey Baker; daughter, Patricia Winans; grandson, Chad Douglas; and sisters, Vera Baker and Bernice Lockwood.

Myrtie is survived by her children, Linda (Mike) Hagerty, Kay (Scott) Douglas, and Charlie (Millie) Baker; grandchildren, Wes Howell, Wendy Partridge, Angie (Rick) Price, Nikki (David) Roy, Scott (Jessica) Anderson, David Howell, Bill (Carrie) Winans, Cassandra (Trevor) Martin, and Daytona (Brandon) Lay; 22 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren who were the joy of her life.

Myrtie was truly the glue that held her family together. She adored her family and cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and the warmth she so naturally shared with everyone around her.

She was an avid knitter and crocheter, and her handmade creations became treasured keepsakes for her family. She also served as a first grade teacher's aide at Concord Schools, where she loved helping the children and being a part of their learning and growth.

Myrtie will be remembered as one of the sweetest ladies you could ever meet, known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family.

Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held from 2-4 PM on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Concord Hills Golf Course, 7331 Pulaski Rd, Concord, MI 49237.
