Myrtle Alice Edmond completed her journey on this side of Heaven on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Clear Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mint Hill, North Carolina. She was 86 years old.

Born in Concord, NC on May 18, 1939, Myrtle was the daughter of the late Edmund Richard Holdbrooks and the late Isabelle Virginia Mackin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Edmond Jr.; her parents; two daughters, Penola D. Wilks and Ann C. Wilkerson; one son, John C. Edmond; one brother, Willie Holdbrooks; and three sisters, Gloria J. Miller, Linda K. Allen, and Shirnette I. Mackin.

Myrtle was educated in Concord, NC and graduated from Logan High School in 1959. She dedicated 38 years of service to Northeast Medical Center in Concord, working in the housekeeping department before retiring.

For more than 60 years, Myrtle was a proud and faithful member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, where she served on Missionary Circle #2. She loved attending Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and cherished her pastor and church family deeply.

Affectionately known as "Myrt" to her family and "Mimee" to her precious grandchildren, she was the heart of her home and a source of joy to all who knew her. She enjoyed reading the newspaper, working crossword puzzles, and faithfully reading her King James Bible daily. Myrtle also shared in a prayer group with her cousins. She was an exceptional cook, Sunday dinners with her family was always her favorite time.- Her fried chicken, dressing, mac & cheese, and sweet potato casserole, no one could match-and her Christmas cakes, German Chocolate, Red Velvet, and Italian Cream were known to melt in your mouth.

She leaves to treasure her memory her sons, Russell L. Edmond and Matthew A. Edmond; daughters-in-law, Renita Edmond and Anquonette Edmond; son-in-law, Scottie Wilkerson; four brothers, James Mackin, Bobby Mackin, Calvin Mackin, and Micheal Cannady (Inez); one sister, Reba Mackin; sister-in-law, Nellie Miller (Coy); twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family extends special thanks to Reverend Hollaway and the entire First Congregational United Church of Christ family, as well as the staff at Clear Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, for their kindness and care.

Funeral arrangements are scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at First United Church of Christ located at 248 Tournament Drive SW in Concord. The visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. - 1:00 P.M. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Rutherford Memorial Park in Concord.
