Myrtle P. McCalman, age 90, of Kingwood, Texas passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024. She was born in Sexton, Texas on March 16, 1933 to parents Pete and Mamie Waldrop.
Myrtle graduated from Shelbyville High School at the age of sixteen. She met Madison "Mac" McCalman in Houston, Texas and married on April 1955. Myrtle worked under the administration staff as a lead switchboard PBX operator for KPMG Accounting Firm, for over 28 years. She had a passion for Jesus and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Madison "Mac" McCalman; parents, Pete and Mamie Waldrop; brothers, Claude Waldrop, Ray Waldrop, and Ralph Waldrop; sisters, Ruth Stevenson, and Doris Skoba.
Myrtle is survived by her sister, Louise Quarles; along numerous family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Ali Alfadel, John Bailey, Barrett Besser, Jason Campbell, David Fancher, Zachary Warman, Clisty Ward, and Rosbil Martinez. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Carl Waldrop, David Ward, Mark Johnson, Rick Bailey, Hilston Campbell, David Felts, Gale Drawhorn and Glen Jozwiak.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Myrtle's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/give/memorials-and-dedications.html.
A visitation for Myrtle will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Brookside Funeral Home. A committal service will occur Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Brookside Memorial Park.
