SPENSBERGER, Myrtle A. (Mert) – of Birch Run, age 93, died Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers, Michigan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Ss. Francis and Clare Catholic Church in Birch Run, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Thomas McNamara officiating. Burial in Birch Run Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Monday, October 16, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Ss. Francis and Clare Catholic Church.
Myrtle Ann Giltrop was born July 16, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late William and Anna (Steineke) Giltrop. She was married to the late George H. Spensberger. Myrtle was a resident of Birch Run for several years and a member of Ss. Francis and Clare Parish. She enjoyed her flower gardens and spending time with family.
Surviving are: children, Gary (Tammy) Niarhos of Wilson, Michigan, Kathy Niarhos of Colorado, Denise (Craig) Chancellor of Alabama; grandchildren, Jerry (Tricia) Stinnett, Heather (Brian) Faught, William Niarhos, Craig Weiss, Troy (Shirley) Weiss, Barry Snellberger, Michael Beach, Jason Beach, Amy Beach; several great grandchildren and great - great grandchildren; sisters, Helen Scheffler, Delores McDonald; sister in laws, Helen Giltrop, Nancy Giltrop, Paula Giltrop; many nieces and nephews. Mert was preceded in death by her sisters, Cathy (Clarence) Ruggles, Lillian Giltrop; brothers and sister in laws, Henry (Josephine) Giltrop, George Giltrop, Patrick Giltrop, Michael Giltrop, John Giltrop; sisters and brother in laws, Lillian Giltrop, Walter Scheffler, Agnes (Howard) Stephens, Richard McDonald.
