Nancy was born at Memorial Hospital, Pawtucket, Rhode Island to parents Earl and Ruth Crawford. She was the second child of seven siblings. Her parents and five siblings have preceded her in death with one surviving sibling, Robert, who resides in Kennewick, Washington. Nancy was married to Arthur Allen for 55years, and they have 2 sons Christopher and Shawn with grandsons Hunter Allen and Sageeth Allen.
Nancy was dedicated to helping people. After getting her License Vocational Nurse training at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital School of Practical Nursing in North Providence, Rhode Island, she worked one year at the hospital then joined the Peace Corp. After intense training at Norman, Oklahoma and Puerto Rico, she served 2 years in Bolivia, South America. She served with the group known as Bolivia I. After the Peace Corp she worked again in Providence doing Home Nursing. She moved to San Francisco, California in 1965 where she worked in the Longshoresman Hospital. She met Arthur Allen in 1967, and they were married in Twain Harte, California at All Saints Church in 1969. They lived in Pinecrest/Strawberry, California then moved to Bakersfield, Ca in 1971 then to Crestline, Ca. In 1974. In 1977 they moved to Kelsey/Georgetown, Calif. While in Kelsey, Nancy opened her own home nursing business, joined the Garden Valley volunteer Fire Department getting EMT qualified and was Captain of the rescue squad from May 1981-December 1998. Later she served on the Garden Valley Fire Board of Directors. While a volunteer she joined the California Rescue Paramedic Association and was on the Board of Directors for 2 years. She worked as a nurse at City of Folsom prison at Folsom, Ca..and then a traveling nurse performing required tests and vaccinations for EMS workers. She was a Red Cross volunteer teaching first aid and CPR classes and assigned to disasters. While on the Garden Valley Board of Directors she served on the El Dorado Local Agency Formation (LAFCO). They moved to Bend, Oregon in 2006 and she became a certified Ombudsman from 2007-2016 and received the President's Volunteer Service Award Bronze in 2015.
With all this she was dedicated to her family, helping friends and to St James Catholic Church in Georgetown, California. Nancy enjoyed many holidays, camping, and fishing trips with family, extended family, and friends. She disliked sewing but loved to cook new things, particularly for holidays. She loved tending to her house plants.
