Nancy Baker

Nancy (Heron) Baker passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. She finally found eternal peace and was reunited with her husband, Andy, and son, Jon. She was 89 years old.
Nancy was born on August 1, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, to William S. and Martha E. (Bishop) Heron. She grew up in Warren, Ohio. She attended Warren Harding high school where she met and later married her husband, Andrew E. (Andy/Drew) Baker, they were married for 52 years when Andy passed away in 2005. They lived in many places during their marriage including New Jersey, New York, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania and had six children along the way.
Nancy was a gifted musician, singer and composer. She shared the love of music with her father who taught her to play the piano and read music as a child. She also played the organ and the ukulele, which she would bring along on the many family camping adventures and lead the family singing around the campfire. Nancy was a member of Sweet Adelines for over 25 years, both in Cleveland, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Nancy often filled the Baker home with music, passing the love of music on to her children.
Nancy was a lifelong baseball fan – the Cleveland Indians was always her #1 team, but she watched any game she could (except the Yankees!). She had fond memories of going to watch Tribe games with her grandmother when she was a child, including watching the 1948 World Series with her, the last time the team won it. She listened and/or watched Indians games whenever she could from where she was living at the time. She faithfully tracked the team's stats for many, many years.
Nancy also loved crafts, she especially loved to cross-stitch, crochet and needlepoint. In her later years, she crocheted and donated thousands of caps to the "Caps for Kids" program.
She went back to college in the early 1980s where she studied computer science. She was one of the rare people to own a home computer at that time – a TRS80. She put the skills learned there into use helping to compose and arrange music for Sweet Adelines and stat tracking of the Indians.
Nancy leaves behind a large family who loved her deeply, including children: Bonny (Ken) Eppelheimer of Conifer, Colorado; Barb Baker of Medina, Ohio; Dutch (Martha) Baker of Scottsdale, Arizona; Jon's widow, daughter-in-law, Wendy Baker of Tempe, Arizona; Kelly (Steve) Galligan of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania; and Bryan (Kristi) Baker of Indianapolis, Indiana. She had 12 grandchildren – Caitlyn, Brad, Jamey, Travis, Kim, Michael, Brandon, Bethany, Audrey, Morgan, Sam and Nick – and 15 great-grandchildren.
We sincerely thank the Bridges Hospice team, especially Taylor and Tam, and the Skilled Nursing and Medical Office staff at Sherwood Oaks for the compassionate care and support they provided our mom and our family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Sherwood Oaks Community Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sherwood Oaks Employee Scholarship Fund.
