Nancy Battin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Iles Dunn’s Funeral Home on Jan. 30, 2026.
Nancy Battin passed away peacefully on January 26th, 2026 at Bishop Drumm Nursing Facility in Johnson, Iowa.

Nancy Battin was born to Katie Frisch and Clifford McCormack on July 6th, 1953 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Nancy moved to Iowa in 1974 where she walked into a bar and met the man who she would spend the next 51 years building a life with, Robert Battin. Six months later they were getting married. It wasn't long before kids became part of the picture. First, it was Christina. Three years later Barbie was born. Then, finally ten years later they had their baby boy, Michael. Nancy loved her family with everything she had even on toughest days. Nancy was born with Muscular Dystrophy but that did not stop her from living life to the fullest life possible. Nancy attended all her family's events and enjoyed going to church events. Nancy loved music; anything country or gospel. She attended many of her favorite musician concerts throughout the years. Crocheting blankets for people and playing games on the computer or her tablet were some of her favorite things to do. Nancy had a heart of gold. Even though she did not have a lot; she was always willing to help anyone she could no matter if it was providing a place to stay or helping get food til their next meal. If you ever met Nancy you would know she was a happy sassy woman who enjoyed life to the fullest even with all the challenges that life threw her way.

Nancy Battin is survived by her Husband (Robert Battin) two sisters (Ellen VanBuskirk and Charlene Todd) three children (Christina Molln, Barbie Campbell, and Michael Battin), three grand-children (Nicole Schiro, Harlee Battin, Sonya Battin, and Chloe Campbell), three great-grand children (Abel Schiro, Ronin Schiro, and Oliver Schiro) as well as extended family and friends. She will be preceded in death by her parents (Katie Frisch and Clifford McCormack).

Her service and celebration for life will be on February 7th, 2026 at 11am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 2101 Evergreen AVenue, Des Moines, Iowa.
