Carol was born on December 15, 1940, to Clinton and Nina (McLain) Zerbel and remained a resident of the Mellette, Turton, & Redfield areas. Carol attended school in Mellette and Northville Northwestern, graduating in 1958. She attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD, for teaching. Carol married the love of her life, 'Spud' Marvin Bebo, on August 22, 1959, and to this union came four children, Elaine, Scott, Bruce, & Bonnie.
In the early years of their marriage, Carol worked as a soda jerk at Walgreens. She and Spud became co-owners of Redfield Livestock with the Lutter's in the late 1960s. Carol & Spud were active in the Quarter Horse Association. Their passion for horses led them to all aspects of the horse business. Their legacy continues with their children & grandchildren. Carol never missed an opportunity to cheer and encourage anyone involved. Carol and her infamous 'treat wagon' were always within sight at the barn, the field, or the feedlot. One of her favorite places was her pasture, full of the fanciest black steers Spud could buy.
Over the years Carol kept the books for Bebo Livestock, Spud's cattle buying business. She very rarely missed a cattle sale or a chance at a roundup in her car. Carol channeled her inner 'race car driver' while chauffeuring Spud for hours on end. If you couldn't find her around you, you could bet she was mowing around the farm, painting the white fence, cooking meals which were served at 12:00 & 6:00 sharp, or taking care of her beloved dogs.
Carol was a member of the United Church of Christ and the Order of Eastern Star.
Carol loved her family deeply and always had a card of well wishes and a closet full of gifts ready for any celebration. Carol's concern for the well-being of her family solidified her love for them.
Carol is survived by her four children: Elaine (Russel) Jessen, Scott (Rachelle) Bebo, Bruce (Stacey) Bebo, & Bonnie (Greg) Hansen, all of Redfield, SD; twelve grandchildren: Jaime (Matt) Mogen, Brett (Erin) Jessen, Chad (Nicole) Jessen, Kayla (Justin) Wagner, Nick (Lauretta) Bebo, Sarah (Colton) Zens, Cooper Bebo, Jacklyn (Riley) Petersen, Cheyenne (Tate) Glaus, Stuart (Lauren) Meyer, Vanessa (Mike Flansburg) Hansen, and Derek (Tiffany) Hansen; and twenty-six great-grandchildren: Layla, Mason, Leo, Bailey, Brexton, Asher, Cael, Della, Gentry, Walker, Aleah, Kya, Kelby, Sterling, Davy, Collins, Vada, Ace, Chancey, Emersyn, Banks, Keagen, Priya, Bexley, Gemma, Bonnie, and one due in February. She is also survived by her brother Marlin Zerbel; sisters-in-law: MaryAnn Zerbel, Marilyn Ford, & Sylvia Bebo; along with numerous nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Spud; parents, Clinton & Nina; brothers: Delvin & Jerry Zerbel; mother & father-in-law; brothers-in-law; & stepmothers.
