Nancy E. Blackstone, age 101, of Wakefield, passed peacefully into eternal life on December 13, 2025.

She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Martha (Brown) Neal, born in Rockport, MA on October 1, 1924. She was the sister of the late Adelaide “Ad” Williams, Arthur “Art” and Charles Samuel “Sam” Neal Sr.

After graduating High School, Nancy attended business school and was subsequently employed at the Boston & Maine Railroad in Boston. It was there she met Arthur M. Blackstone Jr. and married in 1948. He predeceased her in 1993.

After moving into their home in Wakefield, the couple soon joined the Wakefield-Lynnfield United Methodist Church. Nancy was an active member for over 70 years. She held many offices including Chair of the Church Council, President of United Methodist Women, and Board member for Golden Rule Preschool. Organizing bean suppers and church fairs, providing receptions and church coffee hour, or making the most delicious apple pies, Nancy enjoyed being a gracious hostess. She often referred to her church as her “second home” and an “extended family.”

Nancy was known in the community as a school lunchroom aide for over 20 years, a Girl Scout leader and council member, an avid bowler on a league at the Wakefield Bowladrome, and a regular bridge player. She was an enthusiastic supporter of many other social and cultural programs including lectures, concerts and plays.

Nancy enjoyed many trips with family and friends. Whether it was a day at the beach, or longer trips cross-country or abroad, for her it was always the company that made it special.

Nancy was the loving mother of Carol Margeson and her husband Bruce of Reading, MA, Donna Blackstone and her husband Dale Raczynski of Hatfield, MA, and Susan Borruso and her husband Paul of Henniker, NH. She was the cherished grandmother to five grandchildren and is also survived by nine nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated in Wakefield-Lynnfield United Methodist Church, 273 Vernon St., Wakefield on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 12:30 pm, preceded by a private interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
