Nancy Marie Costello, 88, died December 20, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born August 23, 1935, in Hutchinson, to Harold and Claire (Saylor) Rayl.
Nancy graduated from Haven High School in 1953, and Mercy School of Nursing in 1956. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital and was a homemaker. Nancy was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Doers Sunday school class, PEO Chapter BL, and an avid Kansas State University fan. The greatest joy in Nancy's life was her family.
On September 8, 1956, she married James O. "Pete" Costello. He died March 14, 2012, after they shared 55 years of marriage.
Nancy is survived by: son, Tim Costello of Fort Mill, SC; daughter, Ann Chalfant and husband Brian of Olathe; grandsons, Mike Chalfant (Abi) of Hutchinson, Jack Chalfant of Overland Park, and Tom Chalfant, a Kansas State University Senior, of Manhattan; and a sister, Suzanne Seebald of York, PA.
She was preceded in death by: her parents and two brothers, James Rayl and Dr. David Rayl.
Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Michael Tomson-DeGreeff officiating. Private family inurnment will take place in the church columbarium. Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Cremation has taken place.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church or Hospice House, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
