Nancy M. Couden, age 70, of Lake Crystal, passed away on October 22, 2025 at Laurel’s Peak Rehabilitation Center after a brief battle with cancer.
A private family graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Nancy was born on June 21, 1955 in Gaylord, MN to Raymond Sr. and Lois (Moyer) Wibstad. Nancy graduated from Gaylord High School and Winona Technical College. On March 13, 1982, she was united in marriage to Ryan Couden in Cheyenne, WY. They lived for a short time in Cheyenne before settling in Lake Crystal. Nancy worked at Minnstar Bank in Lake Crystal for 31 years.
Nancy enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and baking, watching the Game Show Network and she especially loved her cats, Wibby and Charlie. Nancy would always bring the highly anticipated, treasured family recipes to every holiday or get together.
Nancy is survived by her brother, Lee Wibstad of Brainerd, MN; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and her beloved cats, Wibby and Charlie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ryan; parents; brothers, Raymond Wibstad Jr. and Ronald Wibstad; sister-in-law, Katie Wibstad; and niece, Amanda Wibstad.
Nancy’s family would like to thank the staff at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato, especially the Emergency Department, the staff at Laurel’s Peak, and St. Croix Hospice for all of the care they provided. They would like to also extend thanks to Nancy’s friends at Minnstar Bank for all of the assistance they provided her family.
