Nancy Ellen (Bankert) Crotty, 77, passed away on February 1, 2025, at The Carrington in Lincolnwood, Illinois after a long battle with dementia. Nancy was married to Frank Crotty for over 57 years. Frank lovingly cared for Nancy throughout her illness and was devoted to her care.
Born on June 25, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, Nancy attended Little Flower grade school and later graduated from Mother McAuley High School.
Nancy was a devoted wife to her husband, Frank, a loving mother to her daughter, Jean, and a cherished grandmother to her grandson, Alexander. She also shared a close bond with her son-in-law, Mark Longo. Beloved daughter of the late Edward and Helen Bankert, dear sister of the late Edward (late Coletta) and the late Marianne (Edward Downey). Fond aunt. Her family was at the heart of everything she did, and she found immense joy in spending time with them.
Nancy had a passion for traveling. She especially loved Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and West Palm Beach in Florida and New Orleans, Louisiana. A lifelong reader, Nancy found comfort and inspiration in books. Above all else, she treasured moments spent with family and friends, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love.

A funeral service will be held on February 22, 2025, at Church of the Holy Family, located at 1080 W. Roosevelt Rd., Chicago, Illinois. The service will begin at 11:00 AM. Parking is available for guests in the lot next to the church at the corner of Roosevelt Road and Racine Avenue. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a reception at Connie's Pizza, 2373 S. Archer Avenue, Chicago.
A memorial open house will be held on February 28, 2025, at The Carrington at Lincolnwood, located at 3501 Northeast Pkwy, Lincolnwood, IL from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
Nancy’s warmth and kindness touched many lives. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
