Nancy Gail Duncan passed away in the late afternoon on March 18, 2025. Born on November 14, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan, Nancy was an only child with a gaggle of aunts and uncles, a few of whom became either priests or nuns. After finishing her Associate's degree, Nancy earned a scholarship to an interior design program in New York City, but she ended up meeting and eventually marrying David James Duncan while he was attending medical school. Shortly thereafter they had four children together. They eventually moved the family to South Florida in the mid 70s and made Florida their home from then forward. Nancy was a homemaker and her children became the center of her life. She was the matriarch of the family and took care of the financial side of her husband's medical practices. Nancy was a proud mother and grandmother and was always there for her children and her grandchildren - she went to every basketball and soccer game, and to every gymnastics event. She was a loving wife to her husband to whom she was married for 62 years, until David's death in 2023. Nancy's quick wit was one of her greatest gifts. She would light up any room and make anyone in the room laugh with her sarcastic timing, and her laughter was infectious. She was also a phenomenal cook and though her skills in the kitchen did not rub off on her four children, she loved entertaining and hosting friends and family, which she and her husband did often. She had a keen sense of style and loved turning a house into a home. She loved a good glass of wine, ice cream and could beat anyone in a game of noodle ball. She was the glue of her family. Nancy handled her life with grit, grace, and humor. Despite experiencing a number of frustrating health issues in recent years, her humor always shone through in everything she did. She is preceded in death by her parents Francis and Margaret O'Connor, and her husband, David. She is survived by her four children David James Jr., Elizabeth, Daniel, and Julia as well as her three beautiful granddaughters, Lindy, McKenzie, and Devyn. She was greatly loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Nancy's honor to the wonderful caregivers who took amazing care of Nancy and many others in her final years of life. No donation is too small and greatly appreciated https://www.edensgardenalf.com/assisted-living-facilities-donate-for-a-cause or their website at www.edensgardenalf.com
