Nancy Ann Byrum (Walker) (Orndoff) Dunn
Nancy went home to Jesus on July 13, 2025.
She was born on March 25, 1936, the daughter of the late Dorothy Frances Byrum Sellers and the late Fred Alexander Walker. After her mother's marriage to Gene Orndoff, she was known as Nancy Orndoff and lived most of her life in the Oakdale community of Charlotte, NC. Nancy graduated from West Mecklenburg High School, class of 1954. On November 2, 1956, Nancy married Harry Fulton Dunn. They were married for 60 years, until his death on November 21, 2016.
Nancy loved music and singers from many different genres and time frames. From Ray Price, Jim Reeves. Elvis and the Everly Brothers, up to the MTV days of Rod Stewart, Peter Cetera, and Tina Turner, but her favorite singer and musician of all time was her sweetheart Harry.
She was an avid reader, making sure to obtain a library card for each city they lived in, so that she and Harry could enjoy their weekly library visits together.
Mom / Mamaw will always be remembered as that special person who could sense when something was troubling you and would listen with love and offer guidance.
Surviving are her treasured children, Harry Glenn Dunn and Laurie Frances Dunn, both of Sunset Beach, NC. Also surviving are the delights of her life, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren: grandson, Seth M Hopkins, his wife Tanya and daughter Lillian Breanna of Springfield, TN and granddaughter, Caitlin Hart, her husband Brian and sons Oliver Arlin, Miles Fulton, and Emmett Willard, of White House, TN.
Interment will be at Serenity Mausoleum of Forest Lawn West in Charlotte, NC on Saturday July 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM
Flowers welcomed. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy and Harry's names to Lower Cape Fear Lifecare, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401 (or donations accepted on line at www.lifecare.org/donate/) are appreciated. The family would like to thank Lower Cape Fear Lifecare for the kindness and care provided to both Harry and Nancy in their final days.
As per their wishes to honor their life together, Harry's remains will be interred with Nancy at the same date and time.
