Nancy L. Emmer of Genoa, Ill., passed away Monday, July 14, 2025, her 88th birthday, at the home of her daughter.
Born July 14, 1937, in Elgin, the daughter of Charlie E. and Ingaborg (Sjurseth) Miller, Nancy married Dennis J. Emmer on Nov. 23, 1984, in Elgin.
A 1955 graduate of Elgin High School, Nancy worked at AutoMeter and Barnaby's Office Supplies, both in Sycamore, and Eagle Food store in DeKalb, retiring in 1999. She was a life member of Zion Lutheran Church in Elgin, a former choir member and Sunday school teacher. She was also a lifetime member of VFW Post 1307 Auxiliary in Elgin.
Nancy is survived by her children, Cynthia (Gary) Jones of Indiana, Patricia (Glen) Davis of Michigan, and Victoria (David) Russell of Hampshire; stepchildren, Peter (Alex) Emmer of Kansas and Sarah Elizabeth of Indiana; grandchildren, Asheal (Katie), Glenna, Stacy (Scott), Dustin, Ashley (Nick), Clarissa (Jerad), Chelsey (Matt), Jacob, Ella, Mark, Cody, Crystal and Andrew; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Charlie (Linda) Miller of Arizona; sister-in-law, Lorraine Miller; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dennis in 2011; son, Richard Groesser; parents; and siblings, Raymond, Richard, Alvin, Bill, Clara, Shirley, and Marge.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in her name to Zion Lutheran Church, Elgin.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Friday, July 25, 2025, at Olson's Cooper Quiram Chapel, 202 E. Main St.,
Genoa, IL 60135.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 330 Griswold Street,
Elgin, IL 60123, with interment to follow at Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin.
