Ms. Nancy McCrary Haddan, 83, of Dahlonega, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2024 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home, Main Campus. Rev. Chris Swan will officiate. Nancy was born on October 24, 1940 to R.W. McCrary Jr. and Louise Garner McCrary at Hall County Hospital in Gainesville. GA.
She graduated from Lumpkin County High School in 1958. She then went into the nursing program at the Hall School of Nursing. Her class was the first class to graduate in 1963 and was later recognized as the Pioneers of Nurses. She worked at Lanier Park Hospital and Northeast Georgia Medical Center as charge nurse on medical and surgical floors. She also was the director of Bell Minor and Lakeshore Nursing Homes. She taught health and health occupations at Gainesville High School. She opened Playland Daycare and sold it in 1987. She then went back to nursing on the IV team. During the same time, she contracted and built Lanier Daycare and After School in 1991. She then retired from nursing to take care of "her kids" which she loved so much. She worked alongside her daughter, Pam who served as the director and sisters, Barbara and Shirley. It was a family run daycare. There were a lot of fun and great memories made along the years at the daycares. Bonds that are still strong to this day.
Nancy loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved watching them play sports, ride horses, motorcycles' or whatever their interests were. She was their biggest fan.
Nancy loved being outside working in her little garden and flowers. She loved traveling and going to the mountains. She was a selfless person and put others first and loved and took care of others. She will definitely be missed by all.
The family would like to thank Heather Lawrence of Family Hospice for the love and care she gave our mom.
Nancy had three children by ex-husband Joe Ben Haddan; Pam Haddan of Dahlonega, John Haddan (Sherry) of Lumpkin Co., Russ Haddan ( Dee Ann) of Cleveland, GA.; grandchildren, Jessica Smith (Brandon), Justin Seymour (Hunter), Stephanie Thompson (Daniel), Sidney Haddan, Madison Haddan.
