Nancy Carol Helderop, age 84, passed away on January 25, 2026. She was born October 10, 1941, in Hammond, Indiana, the daughter of Monford and Mary (Bixman) Loomis.
Nancy built a long and dedicated career with Meijer, Inc., retiring as an Executive Secretary. Her work was important to her, but her greatest joy came from her faith, her family, and the people whose lives she touched along the way. A devoted member of New Beginnings Church, she loved her Lord and Savior deeply and found comfort and purpose in studying the Bible.
Family was the heart of Nancy’s world. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and the unforgettable aroma of something delicious in the oven. Cooking was her passion, and she expressed her love through the meals she prepared—especially her homemade bread. She was a natural hostess, happiest when her table was full and everyone felt welcome. Nancy also enjoyed sewing, creating pieces that carried her care in every stitch.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Helderop; her son, Joseph Edward Bailey; and her sisters, Betty and Eileen.
Nancy is survived by her children Carlene (Don) Converse, James (Jackie) Ainsworth, Mary Jane (Michael) Solms, David (Jerri) Ainsworth, Jeff (Tammy) Bailey, and Rosemary (Chuck) Stalter; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and her sisters Robaline Udell, Caroline Bolen, and Gloria Mantooth.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, from Noon–3:00 PM, with a time of reflection and remembrance at 2:00 PM at Girrbach Funeral Home, 328 S Broadway, Hastings, MI 49058.
