Nancy Elizabeth Wilson Hill, age 71 of Morgantown, WV, formerly of Moorefield, WV, passed away October 26, 2023 at home in Morgantown, WV. Born September 18, 1952, in Covington, VA, she was the oldest daughter of Samuel George Wilson (2-2002) and Glady Oressa Wilson (1-1990). Preceding her in death, a sister, Marsha Powell-Pysell (8-1997) and a brother, Jesse “Frank” Wilson (9-2018). She was a member of the Moorefield Church of Christ, Hardy County Retired Teacher Association, Moorefield Branch of Association of University Women, and the General Federated Women’s Club of Moorefield.

Nancy was 1970 graduate of Petersburg High School, 1974 graduate of West Virginia University degree in journalism education, 1977 graduate Marshall University (MA in Journalism), 1992 graduate of West Virginia University (MA in Education). From 1977-1984, Nancy worked as a reporter for the Moorefield Examiner. From 1989-2010, she worked as a special education teacher for Hardy County Schools. In her spare time, she researched local genealogy publishing The Alt and Kimble Families (1997, 2013) with Mark Bowers. On her own, she published two books: Country Letters from Landes, and a cookbook. As a woman invested in her community, she volunteered with local theater and Hardy County 4-H clubs.  During her retirement, she enjoyed cruises with her husband and time with her grandchildren.

Surviving is her husband, Charles William Hill (49 years), a son Charles William Hill, II and wife Tracy Hill of Morgantown, WV; a daughter Mary Katheryn Hill Buffington and husband William Buffington of Shenandoah Junction, WV; a daughter Susan Beth Hill Girdner and husband Daniel Girdner of McLeansville, NC; five grandchildren, William Arthur Buffington, Jayden Elizabeth Hill, Jacquelyn Girdner, Lydia Girdner, and Ian Girdner. 

Memorials may be directed to WV Cancer Institute, Office of Philanthropy, P O Box 9300, Morgantown, WV 26505-9300. (In Memory of Nancy Hill).

A private family memorial will be held in her honor.
