Mrs. Nancy Lee Mabe Hooker, age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. She was born in North Carolina on June 27, 1939 to the late Creed Mabe and Verda Mabe. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Arthur Hooker.
Mrs. Hooker worked hard all of her life in farming and textiles. She enjoyed breaking and training horses for many years. She loved going to rodeos with her family even up to a few weeks before she passed.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Julie Hooker; four granddaughters, Beth Shelton, Kinsey Hooker, Hailey Cox, and Jordan Pinnix; seven great-grandchildren, Chelsea Shelton, Amanda Shelton, Zyra Alexander, Jayden Repass, Hayden Harrison, Skylar Harris, and Dylan Pinnix; one sister, Linda Lawson; and one brother, Broc Mabe.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 1:30 P.M. at Calvary Baptist Church in King, NC with Pastor Kevin Broyhill officiating. Burial will follow in Stateline Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:30 until 1:30 at the church.
