Mr. Richard Truman Conner, age 80 of Meadows of Dan, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 1, 2026. He was born in Patrick County on May 8, 1945, to the late Irby Elijah Conner and Nellie Alice Rorrer Conner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Randolph Conner; and two sisters, Rachel C. Hughes and Ruth C. Hubbard. Richard faithfully served in the National Guard of the United States for 6 years. He had retired from the United States Postal Service with over 30 years as a mail carrier. Richard was very civic-minded and was a former member of the Vesta Rescue Squad, charter member of the Meadows of Dan Fire Department, past member of the Meadows of Dan Ruritan Club, and early member of the Patrick County Parks and Recreation Commission. Richard loved his community and took great joy in his family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, caring grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Left to cherish the memories of Richard Conner are his wife of 59 years, Ann Ayers Conner of the home; two sons, Richie Conner and wife, Renae of Gainesville, Georgia and John Conner of Meadows of Dan; two grandsons, Chase Conner and Ian Conner; one brother, Roger Conner and wife, Brenda of Meadows of Dan; one sister-in-law, Sharon Parker of Meadows of Dan, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Jeff Garrison and Pastor John Franklin officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday morning at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mayberry Presbyterian Church, P.O.
