Nancy Hutchins Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 18, 2024.
Nancy Lael Hutchins passed away with the company of loved ones in the early morning hours of April 19. Nancy lived with cancer for several years and was able to show up valiantly with the steadfast support of her loving community. She had imminent plans to return to Rhode Island where she enjoyed wonderful friendships with a group of women from high school, swimming in the Atlantic Ocean and to experience the ease and spirit of summer that she returned to and relished throughout her 38 years of living and working in Redding.

Born in Pennsylvania, living in New York and then Rhode Island was then drawn to the West Coast to get her Master's in Wildlife Biology. Nancy worked for the Forest Service in Redding for 25 years, loving both her work and the environment. Nancy deeply appreciated so many things: her friends, family and spiritual community, painting, delicious food, her dog Patrick, the beauty of Shasta County and her home.

Nancy will be dearly missed by all including brothers Ross and Jimmy Hutchins, sister Lindsay Hutchins and the relationships that she fostered with so much gratitude throughout her life.
A Celebration of Nancy's life will be held on June 1st at 10 o'clock at the Anderson Grange, 8085 Airport Road, Redding, CA. Please join us to celebrate Nancy's life!

Nancy was a good friend for many years, but we lost touch after she left the Forest Service. She stood up for me an my ex-wife Kim at the USFS when we were causing "good trouble."
