Nancy Evans Johnson

Nancy Evans Johnson passed away on September 29, 2025, in Shawnee, KS, at the age of 81. She was born on July 07, 1944, in Springfield, MO., to Gene and Marjorie (Squibb) Evans. Nancy was one of two children in the home.
Nancy worked as an English Teacher for many years and completed her teaching career as a learning disabilities teacher at the age of 55. It was her ownership of rental properties that allowed her the freedom to retire so young.
Nancy graduated from Republic High School in 1962 and maintained friendships with her classmates until she passed away. She married Terry Johnson in 1994, and they lived out their years together in Hermitage, MO. Nancy enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and reading. She kept a book with her at all times. She was very active in the Republican Women's Committee for Hickory County and was a Master Gardener. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Marjorie (Squibb) Evans.
She is survived by her husband, Terry Johnson of Hermitage, MO, and daughter Melanie (Beard) Yunger and husband Casey Yunger, Grandchildren Jack and Carlie (Yunger) DuBois, and Alison Yunger. Great-grandchild Ruth DuBois, stepdaughter, Rebecca(Johnson) Stewart, as well as other extended family and countless friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 01, 2025, at 1 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery. The family would like to invite friends and family to Hood Methodist Church after the graveside service, for a time of fellowship while enjoying a meal together.
