Nancy Lee Kennedy, born on June 15, 1936, in Columbia City, Indiana, to Edward and Arlene (Rolan) Ziegler, passed away peacefully at her home on September 28, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Nancy was raised in South Whitley and later graduated from South Whitley High School in 1954. One of her fondest memories from her childhood was flying with her father in his airplane around the area.

On October 20, 1961 Nancy married Silas J. Kennedy Jr. For the next forty-eight years, Nancy and Silas built a life together that included five children, before Sy passed away on September 18, 2009. For over thirty years, Nancy worked as a bookkeeper at Sy's Welding and Repair, a business she and her husband owned together.

Nancy was deeply devoted to her family and friends. Known affectionately as a mom and grandma to everyone who visited, her home was a welcoming space. Countless individuals spent evenings gathered around her kitchen table, engaging in Shanghai Rummy or other card games. Once you sat down to play, you became part of the family, a testament to her welcoming nature.

Generous with her time, Nancy enjoyed playing cards with her "Therapy Group," where laughter and friendship flourished alongside the game. Her zest for life was not confined to her home; she embraced travel and explored the world.

The loving memory of Nancy Kennedy will be forever cherished by her children, Ziva (J.C.) Nimtz, Goshen, Matt (Jodi) Kennedy, North Manchester, Chad (Tammy) Kennedy, Bourbon, Mody (Troy) Eads, Lagro, and Silas “Hoss” (Tracy) Kennedy, Urbana; grandchildren, Timon (Allison) Nimtz (one child with one on the way), Hadassah Nimtz, Allayah Nimtz, Johanan Nimtz, Jakin Nimtz, Jade (Andrew) Adamiec (four children), Brecken (Cassondra) Kennedy (three children), Dylin (Noelle) Kennedy (three children), Meika (Alec) Wells (three children), Cale (Kara) Kennedy (four children), Dane (Kerry) Kennedy (one child with one on the way), Taran (Jerrica) Kennedy (one child), Becca (Andrew) Baker (two children), T.J. (Whitney) Eads (three children), Taner (Sonja) Eads (two children), Trey (Sierra Voelzke) Eads, Arie Kennedy, Kade (Tristan) Kennedy (one child), and Kyra Kennedy; and bonus son, Sam Knight, North Manchester. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Betty Bishop; and great-grandson, Wyatt Wells.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held privately.
