Lo Nancy Lou Jensen King of South Ogden, Utah, formerly of American Falls and Aberdeen, Idaho passed away Monday, July 1, 2024. Nancy was born November 22, 1936 in Brigham City, Utah to Theron Elias Jensen and Clara Burton Jensen. She grew up in Brigham City, Utah and graduated from Box Elder High School. Upon graduation Nancy attended Utah State University for one year then moved to Inglewood, California to work to save money for college. While there, her roommate Roma set Nancy up with Roma's brother Maurice King of Aberdeen, ID. They dated for 4-5 months then were married in the Logan LDS Temple on her 22nd birthday November 22, 1958. They lived in Raft River, ID where they ran the Raft River Store and farmed for several years.
In May of 1973 they returned to Aberdeen where they raised their family. They raised one daughter, Darla, and sons Sheldon and Vince. She worked hard to remodel their Aberdeen home and provide a good life for her children. She raised her family on healthy meals, homemade whole wheat bread, garden produce and never had junk food or sugared cereal in the house. In the fall of 1977 Nancy enrolled in school at Idaho State University where she finished her degree in elementary education. She taught 4th and 5th grades at Aberdeen Elementary from 1980-1999. Everywhere the grandkids go with her there is always someone who calls out "Mrs. King!" and stops to visit. She was always so proud of all of her grandchildren and made sure to brag about them to her friends at the cafe, her students at school and anyone else they met.
She is survived by her children Darla Barclay (Kirk), Sheldon Maurice (Jennifer), Vince Burton (Michelle), 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, sister Janice (Ken) Summers, sister-in-law Jean Jensen, sister-in-law Chieko Jensen and brother-in-law Don Gibbons. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Maurice King, brothers Kent and Gill Jensen, sister Sally Gibbons and granddaughter Camille King Barclay.
The funeral services will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Aberdeen Idaho. A visitation will be held from 6-7:30 pm Sunday, July 7 also at the LDS church and Monday, July 8 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Aberdeen Cemetery.
