Nancy McClellan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Huehns Funeral Home, Inc. & Door County Crematory LLC - Sturgeon Bay on Dec. 14, 2025.
Nancy Barker McClellan, 83, of Sturgeon Bay, WI, finished her earthly journey early Friday morning, December 12, 2025. She died peacefully in the comfort of her home with her husband, Jim, at her side.
Nancy Rehme Barker was born August 16, 1942 in Saint Louis, MO, the daughter of Donald Morrison Barker and Eunice M. (Rehme) Barker. She was raised Catholic and grew up attending Immacolata Catholic Church in Richmond Heights, MO. Nancy graduated from Villa Duchesne, a Sacred Heart school, with the class of 1960. She went on to study elementary education at Maryville College in St. Louis where she earned her degree in 1964.
Nancy was united in marriage to James Steele McClellan, Jr. at her home church, Immacolata, on June 26, 1965.
She was a proud kindergarten teacher in the Ritenour School District in St. Louis for several years. With a heart filled with love, Nancy devoted herself to students, not only as an educator, but even more importanly as a friend.
She and Jim were blessed with six children whom she lovingly raised at home. As they grew up, Nancy continued to care for their son, Peter as his primary caregiver. As years went on, one of Nancy's greatest joys became spending time with her many grandchildren.
Door County, WI had a special place in her heart, as Jim's parents, James Sr. and Delphine, vacationed here for many years before Delphine became a resident. Nancy and Jim had vacationed in Door County together since the 1960s, even spending their honeymoon on the shores of Whitefish Bay . They eventually discovered the blessing that the program at the Sunshine House in Sturgeon Bay was (is) for so many and what a great community and availability it would be for their son, Peter. In 2011, Nancy and Jim moved to Sturgeon Bay, beginning their next chapter.
A woman of great faith, Nancy joined St. Joseph Parish in Sturgeon Bay with husband, Jim, and Peter. Nancy was an avid bridge and mahjong player, playing weekly in several groups. Nancy was also a member of the philanthropic Women's organization, P.E.O., with the Barbara Board Chapter in Stugreon Bay. She was actively involved with the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Door County and enjoyed the Learning In Retirement courses offered through there.
Nancy's love will live on in the hearts of her family, husband, Jim, with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage; children, Dr. James (Jennifer) McClellan III, MD of Traverse City, MI, Michael (Alicia) McClellan of St. Louis, MO, Christopher (Rick Brady) McClellan of Chicago, IL, Mark (Amy Luckett) McClellan of St. Louis, MO, and Nancy (Greg) Siefert of Green Bay; grandchildren, Jamie and Hayley McClellan, Ana, Sofia, and Natalie McClellan, Riley Luckett, and Noah, Blake, Corbin, and Briar Siefert; siblings-in-law, Kathy Barker of St. Louis, MO, Patti Barker of Hudson, OH, Delphine McLaughlin of San Diego, CA, and John (Cathy) McClellan of St. Louis, MO; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Peter (2019); brothers, Donald Barker and Neil Barker; parents-in-law, James and Delphine (nee Seabold) McClellan, Sr.; siblings-in-law, Lucia Hannegan, Jerry McLaughlin; and other relatives.
Nancy's life will be honored with a Mass of Christian Burial prayed at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 110 N. 5th Avenue, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 with Fr. Matthew Rappl as celebrant.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 on Thursday, December 18, 2025 with the Rosary to be prayed at 3:40 p.m. and a parish wake service to conclude the evening at 7:00 p.m., led by Dcn. Mark Bortle. There will be no visitation at the church on Friday, prior to the Mass.
Services will also be held in Missouri in 2026 and will be announced through Nancy's tribute page at www.HuehnsFuneralHome.com.
Memorials may be given in Nancy's name for Sunshine Resources of Door County (55 W. Yew Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235; www.sunshineresources.org/support).
