Our beloved mother, Nancy Mae McDermott, age 80, of Bixby, Oklahoma, left this world as she wished—at home, surrounded by family, in peace and free from suffering—to join the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; her mother, father, sisters, and all the angels and Saints in Heaven on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 9:50 p.m.
She was born on February 23, 1945, in Logansport, Indiana, to the late Gerald Davis and Mary Jane (Beale) Lindley.
Her faith in God was strong and unwavering. She prayed several times each day and found comfort and strength in her deep spiritual life. She was selfless and strong, with an exceptional tenderness toward others.
She had a profound love for music and was an incredibly talented artist. She was a member of the Art Center Manatee in Bradenton, Florida. Creating art brought her great joy, and she continued to do so until the day before her passing—a testament to her passion and creative spirit.
She was a former underwriter and auditor for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. She was also a member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution, which she joined and attended with her mother. She proudly continued her mother’s work, completing family genealogy, an endeavor they enjoyed together.
Family meant everything to her. She lovingly cared for her mother and sister until their passing and worked tirelessly to keep the family together and at peace. She supported and encouraged her family to seek growth through knowledge, spirituality, and everyday interactions. Her love for her family was endless and shaped every part of who she was.
She will be forever loved, deeply missed, and carried in our hearts always.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in the Mt. Hope Cemetery Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bishop’s Animal Shelter of Bradenton, Florida, or the Art Center Manatee of Bradenton, Florida.
